Salah

(Prayer)

What is it about?

Salah, also called Salat or Prayer, is part of the Five Pillars of Islam and is a form of worship for Muslims. It is known as the second most important pillar and the reason for this is that in the Qur'an, Allah mentions the importance of prayer in the lives of those who believe in him. It's performed 5 times a day to pursue forgiveness, blessings and guidance and it's also a way to communicate with Allah to remember their purpose in life.

5 times a day

Fajr

The first pray takes place at pre-dawn, Muslims wake up before the sun appears to start praying to Allah.

Dhuhr

The second pray happens at midday. At this time of the day Muslims stop doing everything and only focus on talking with Allah.

Asr

The third pray occurs at afternoon, before the sun starts to turn orange. Muslims have to go to the Mosques to begin praying to Allah.

Maghrib

The fourth pray develops when the sunset begins, it's almost night so Muslims pray thanking or communicating Allah about what happened at the morning.

Isha

The fifth and last pray takes place at night. Before going to sleep, Muslims take their time to worship Allah by starting their last pray of the day.

How to pray Salah?

To know more about this you can watch the video!

When Muslims practice the Salah, they have to accomplish some exact movements. They first have to stand facing the direction of the Kaaba, then they have to bow, Muslims also have to prostrate with their head and hands touching the ground and finally they have to sit to begin praying. These movements are accompanied with the recitation of verses from the Qur'an in Arabic and with a number of dua (supplications). All this procedure is done because it's a way to show humility and submission to Allah.
